FLORIDA SUPERCON BETCHES!

Wow...what a glorious weekend...My buddy Racchel drops me off at the airport and I go through the whole process of baggage check...waiting for the plane to arrive...then the battle to get into my seat and fit my baggage into an overhead compartment...all for a 35 minute flight...Miami airport is probably the most beautiful yet confusing and lengthy airport i have ever been too...took 20 minutes to find the ground transportation area...almost boarded the wrong shuttle and finally made it to the Holiday Inn...(Big success). Banky came down early so we shared the room on thursday and went out to the Alehouse for a couple of Brews....(How bout them Lakers???)...I arrived at the Doubletree convention center Friday morning around 8am...we thought we would have to pick our tables...but they were already assigned and we were 6 hours early for the event...what to do???? DRAW of course...LOL...started my first con sketch which was a Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy combo....later purchased by a con attendee by the name of Tom (thanx dude!)...alot of interesting things happening at this con...for instance, an older guy comes up to my half of the table and is flipping thru my print portfolio and gazing at all the hawt chickas with the big boobs (aka Black cat, Mystique, Dark Phoenix...any other comic babe you could imagine) and requests himself drawn with one of the characters...ok...i don't normally incorporate fans into a drawing but i was like "sure man....no problem" He poses...i take pictures with my handy dandy Digi cam...he finishes the request by adding "make me look handsome"...oh geez...this was gonna be a challenge. so after he gets his picture he tells me that he needs to get someone's opinion first...and that someone just so happened to be Dawn Wells...aka MaryAnne from Gilligans Island...apparently he is dating her and wanted to see if she thought it looked good...she said "the eyes look a little japanese...try darkening em up a bit..." so i take him back to the table and fix it up...He gives me the cash and then comes to visit me the next 2 days of the con to give me kudos for doing a great job (someone else attempted and failed...lol) and then he gave me a cookie on sunday....Nice guy...a liitle strange...but i'm glad to have made such a big impression...and for the real Maryanne to look at my drawing and give her opinion was sort of cool (she was right...it did look a little anime-ish..). Friday night was definitely memorable...headed to the Doubletree Bar after eating at Chili's and was confronted by one of the nasty boys (Brian Knobbs?)....he walked up to us and pointed right at steve and in a drunken rant declares "YOU LOOK FAMILIAR...YOU TWO...NOT SO MUCH..." (referring to my friends Banky and Danielle)....then moments later a cosplayer dressed up as wolverine comes by and scares the girlfriend of a guy that we were chilling with so a verbal tustle ensued...meanwhile Banky and I redirect with a congratulatory salute to the Lakers for their win in the NBA finals...lmao....too funny....Saturday we met Caffeine Crash...a roller derby referree that commissioned a Roller Derby Harley Quinn...probably my favorite commission from the con and she hooked me up with a Derby girl shirt on top of it...it was totally awesome and appreciated. Then Chili's for Danielle's Birfday...shots and prezidentes later we find ourself back at the doubletree...the only bar that closes at 1am in Miami on a Saturday....grrr...still don't remember why i ended up staying there till 5am and then going to the hotel room...had a lot of great conversation with awesome artists and made some new connections in the process. then sunday....the slowest con day ever also fathers day...i wasn't feeling drawing that much anyway...but i think the highlight of sunday's festivities had to be the awesome karaoke from 4pm-6pm....reminded me of being home...overall I think I had a spectacular time (from what I remember) there were alot more insane things that happened...but i'd rather leave those crazy stories to your imagination...can't wait for the next con....

Day 2 of my Magnificent sketch blog....for the two of you that are following this ****big hugs****....it seems alot has begun to happen all at once...I am getting ready to move to my own apartment...under my own name...by myself (scary thought) but so invigorating... Time for a life of independance and waking up when i damn well please and coming home when i want to be home...inviting who i want to be over, over...hopefully the novelty doesn't wear off...I need this excitement to last 12 months after all...

as far as work is concerned...I am working on SADLITTLES.COM Dreamers of Darkness set and Rittenhouse Archives Marvel Heroes and Villains while simultaneously doing a Voltron Pin Up for 5Finity....oy vey....i'm a busy bee...

So what've y'all been up too...someone comment and let me know i'm not the only one drowning in work and life....at least i'm breathing...thank GOD for that.
